This work was undertaken in partnership with BM TRADA who are also deemed to be a mark of quality in our industry. FSC® Chain of Custody is not the same as a timber window and door supplier providing FSC® documents for the timber alone. The Lomax + Wood FSC® Chain of Custody ensures the product is FSC® from the source through to installation, if Lomax + Wood site fitting is specified, which is within the scope of our certification.

The timber sash windows on this project were traditional box cords and weights with sash horns externally on the top sash, situated in recessed reveals which means they sit behind the external brickwork. This allows the 100m wide external box liner to sit in the main behind the structure with as standard 25mm showing. This for several reasons is one of the best architectural details creating an elegant sightline and protecting the frame from the elements as it is set back. This traditional detail is why so many traditional box sash windows have lasted for over a hundred years. Food for thought when we are now looking to reduce our waste and sustainably build our windows.

In addition to this project, an elegant made to order roof lantern was incorporated to allow the natural light to flood the kitchen and dining room below. As with all our products this was manufactured from engineered, knot-free timber. However, the external surface is clad in aluminium capping’s to reduce maintenance.

Lastly, the timber French doors are supplied as a factory finish with all ironmongery including espagnolette locking. The 20mm elegant ovolo glazing bars produce the traditional sightlines associated with single glazing but instead double glazing is used to ensure modern thermal, acoustic and security requirements are attained.
