A landmark project on a world heritage site

English Heritage is building a new Learning Centre at Stonehenge, one of the most recognised and protected sites in the world. The facility will welcome schoolchildren, educators and learners of all ages, providing dedicated spaces for science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education in a truly remarkable setting.

Lomax + Wood is proud to be supplying and installing the timber windows and doors for this project.

About the Stonehenge Learning Centre

The new Learning Centre is a single-storey, low carbon building set within the open grasslands of the Stonehenge and Avebury World Heritage Site. The site is owned by the Crown Estate and managed by English Heritage.

The 397 square metre building wraps a family of learning spaces around a sheltered courtyard. It includes:

  • A STEM discovery lab
  • A flexible learning studio
  • A digital production studio
  • A Neolithic learning space inspired by the surrounding landscape
  • Supporting facilities

The project is designed to increase capacity for the over 60,000 schoolchildren who visit Stonehenge each year, responding to growing demand for dedicated educational facilities at this iconic location.

Timber and sustainability

At Lomax + Wood, environmental responsibility is central to our manufacturing philosophy. We source all timber used in our bespoke windows and doors with full Chain of Custody certification (FSC® or PEFC), ensuring complete traceability throughout the entire supply chain, from the forest to the finished product.

For a project of this significance, on a protected World Heritage Site, this level of accountability matters.
