Lomax + Wood Supply and Fit bespoke windows and door at Kensington Palace, Queen Anne Orangery Renovation

Lomax + Wood was selected from the UK’s finest timber window specialists, to supply and fit made-to-order timber windows at the historic Kensington Palace Queen Anne Orangery.  The Orangery will be a multi-use building mainly to help charities and teach school children about the royals.  The project included a new extension with a two-level basement. The Orangery was built for Queen Anne in 1704-05 who became queen upon William's death in 1702.  Queen Anne used Kensington Palace for entertaining and held parties in the Orangery.  The original architect is thought to have been Nicholas Hawksmoor.

Currently occupied by the Prince and Princess of Wales, the project was undertaken by Historic Royal Palaces.  Historic Royal Palaces is an independent charity which oversees the maintenance of 6 historical sites such as The Tower of London, Hampton Court, Kensington Palace, and Banqueting House.  HRP manage, conserve, display and research collections of royal ceremonial dress, architectural drawings, art, archaeology, furniture, furnishings, architectural decoration, and social history.

The wooden windows and doors were designed working closely with the architects, main contractor and HRP.  Lomax + Wood had to overcome unique challenges such as installing bespoke automated hardware suited throughout the palace.  Lomax + Wood provided the customer with one point of contact by also carrying out the Installation.  Lomax + Wood offers a wide range of installation packages that vary to accommodate any project’s varying requirements.
