Details

In the heart of Kensington, Lomax + Wood recently completed a beautiful bespoke fenestration project for a boutique hotel. The client required windows and doors that would respect the building’s architectural heritage while delivering modern performance standards, particularly thermal efficiency and sound insulation.

The project encompassed 15 timber box sash windows, 16 flush casement windows, a bespoke statement entrance door, and two French doorsets—all crafted from engineered Sapele hardwood for superior stability and longevity.

A standout feature was the creation of three bay windows with curved corner windows, requiring exceptional craftsmanship and specialist glass. One bay included an impressive two-storey height frame with a curved corner, creating a dramatic focal point.

All windows featured a RAL 9010 factory finish, 60mm projecting cills, 20mm ovolo profiles, and 44mm glazing bars—details crucial for achieving heritage-style aesthetics. Antique brass ironmongery completed the refined appearance.

At the heart of this project was a bespoke double entrance door featured shaped panels and bolection moulds, with custom rails, stiles and concealed hinges. Unlike the white windows, the door was finished in a distinguished Sage Green (colour-matched to Little Greene specifications), creating an elegant contrast.

The client selected Lomax + Wood’s Bronze Package installation service, which featured a comprehensive site survey, supply and professional installation of the windows and doors by our expert team.

This project showcases Lomax + Wood’s expertise in delivering bespoke fenestration solutions. By crafting custom curved bay windows and statement doorways specifically for this property, Lomax + Wood created focal points that complement and celebrate the building’s character.
