Chris Wood, formerly of Mumford & Wood, acquired Lomax + Wood Limited following a buyout of his partners to become sole shareholder in October 2014. After joining the company in June 2013 the company has gone through major changes including rebranding, a new website, technical IT system, the upgrading of product designs and a broadening of the overall quality timber window and door offer. The company, under its former brand of Ambass-A-Door, was established in 1994 as a wooden sash window specialist. Now Lomax + Wood offer a full and comprehensive range, including aluminium clad timber windows and doors or alternatively aluminium composite windows and doors.

The Wood family, through Dennis Wood who worked in partnership with Derek Mumford and formed Mumford & Wood, have designed and supplied quality timber windows and doors for over sixty years. Although the Mumford and Wood business partnership between these distinguished gentlemen is no more, Chris Wood who was the MD at Mumford and Wood carries on the tradition through Lomax+Wood.

Sadly, Dennis Wood passed away in 2022 at the grand age of ninety. He was dedicated to his family and beloved wife Margaret to whom he was married to for 64 years. His working life was spent mostly in partnership with Derek Mumford, with whom he started Mumford & Wood Ltd in 1954. He went on to work there with his son Chris Wood and Derek’s son John Mumford until they all sold Mumford & Wood in 2006. Mumford & Wood started as a building company until they decided to concentrate on timber windows and doors, specialising in timber sash windows which they went on to excel at. Dennis was delighted to see the family tradition of producing quality made-to-order timber windows and doors, such as sash windows and casements, continued by Chris in the new family business of Lomax + Wood Limited. The Wood family would like to thank all Dennis’s many friends whom he worked with and socialised with throughout his life for their kind messages.
